The 2007 Fly Fishing Challenge for WaterAid lands a whopping £16,000

WaterAid’s coffers filled as quickly as the holding nets at the Scottish WaterAid Fly Fishing Challenge in June.

Robin Lambert, event co-ordinator worked with Scottish Water's key account customers to organise the competition at the Lake of Menteith for a third year.

Bright sunshine meant conditions weren’t ideal; however the 64 fishermen taking part caught 53 fish between them, with a total weight of 150lb.6oz.

The competition was followed by a presentation meal at the Forth Inn in Aberfoyle. WaterAid Regional Manager, Josephine McLaughlin and Peter Rushton, Regional Director, Orange Business Services presented the WaterAid Fly Fishing Challenge Shield to Change Homes, and the Orange Trophy to Jock Kettles from Change Homes.

Robin is delighted with the results. He said: "The fish were fighting fit, giving a great days fishing, and everyone enjoyed the evening too. Thanks to everyone who took part and all the companies who helped raise the money.

A special thanks goes to Barrie Dexter and Grants Distillery for donating a desk top computer, which raised £634 for the raffle".

Special Prize went to Don Cooper from Farrer Flyfishers for getting the largest weight of the day 13st.8oz by catching his boat partner Graham Martin (SW Commercial Manager) in the nose with his hook (see event photo's).
